Cuckoo birds comes out and coo-coos as the little wings flops with a running stream sound on the v=back ground, it does have a volume control on the back. It uses 3 C size batteries. This model clocks can be hung on the wall or place on a table (without the pendulum installed) they were sold at Amazon last year but are no longer available. Etsy sell them for around $79. The thick walled plastic housing measures appx. 10 inches high by 9 inches across and about 3 inches deep. A few customers feedback; Leo is a master clockmaker. A one of a kind gem.
