Both boxers came in undefeated and held respective heavyweight titles, so many people saw this as the match to determine the true heavyweight champion. The 21-year-old Tyson immediately got after it at the opening bell, landing punches left and right, forcing Spinks to take a knee just a minute into the first round. After getting up, Tyson hit him with a left-right combination to knock him back down. Spinks was unable to get back up this time, giving Tyson a knockout win in just 91 seconds.
