Item description
ROCKY MOUNTAIN COLUMBINE seeds. The State Flower of Colorado. Lot's of colorful, blue and white interesting flowers. The Columbine is an easy plant to grow because it adapts itself to a wide variety of conditions. Columbines do best when they are grown in moist, rich, well-drained soil in light shade. These get 1-3 ft tall and generally begin blooming in early to mid-spring and will often continue through June if the flowers are removed as they fade. Columbines are one of a Hummingbird's favorite flowers and are excellent additions to a rock garden, or in a native woodland planting. They tend to cross-pollinate, hybridize and self-seed freely, creating new strains and colors. Thankyou.
Some American Native Wildflower seeds need to go through a cold winter to germinate. This plant is one of them. They do this so the seed wonโt sprout in fall, only to have the seedling not make it through a cold winter. I have stratified these seeds to simulate a cold winter(stratification) This raises the germination rate considerably.
