This is a watercolor of a blossoming orchard, 5 1/2"x8 1/2" by sight, signed lower right (under the matte) "H.V. Law." It is framed under matte and glass and is in very good condition. Harry Victor Law, 1866-1952, was an American-born Impressionist landscape painter in oil and watercolor and a commercial artist. He was born in Peoria, IL in 1866, trained in Chicago at the Chicago Art Institute, and then moved to California around 1900. Law moved often and was known to have lived in Salina, CA in 1905, Oakland, CA between 1908 and 1920, San Francisco, CA from 1922 to 1923 and in Los Angeles, CA. He maintained winter homes in Redlands, San Bernadino, CA, Palm Springs, CA and Revelstoke, BC, Canada. Law married late in life, at age 79, to Ethel C. McDonald a journalist and PR woman from New York. The two established an art colony in Revelstoke, BC, Canada and eventually settled there.
