Item description
Hay Scented Fern - 5 Clumps (Dennstaedtia punctilobula), Fragrant Hardy
You are purchasing 5 clumps of Hay Scented Fern, each containing 10-15 rhizomes. Known scientifically as Dennstaedtia punctilobula, this fern is often called Hay Scented Fern because its fronds release a fragrance similar to freshly mown hay when touched or crushed. This deciduous fern is native to open woods and wooded banks in the eastern and midwestern U.S. It is resistant to major insect and disease issues. In hot summer climates, the fronds may decline by late summer. It is well-suited for naturalizing in woodland areas, shade gardens, cottage gardens, or wild areas. It thrives in moist, rich, humusy, acidic loams and prefers part shade to full shade. It typically grows to a height of 1.5-2 feet with a spread of 2-3 feet. Hardy in zones 3-8. We do not ship to Hawaii, Alaska, or Puerto Rico. Planting instructions are included with every order.
