Mahershala Ali had been cast as Blade in July 2019. In 2021, Stacy Amma Osei-Kuffour was hired to write the script in February, while Bassam Tariq was confirmed to direct in September. The film will begin principal photography in October 2022 at Tyler Perry Studios, Atlanta. Blade is scheduled to be released on November 3, 2023 as part of Phase Five of the MCU. Ali has an uncredited vocal cameo appearance as Blade in a post-credits scene for Eternals.
