Item description
Pacifica Prints are quality hand screened reproductions of historical Hawaiian and Pacific scenes on fabrics. that accurately duplicate cotton fabrics in use at that time the drawings were made.
The Hawaiian series of prints except where noted are reproductions of engravings after John Webber, official artist on Captain James COok'sVoyage to Hawaii (Sandwich Islands) and the Pacific 1778-1799
This series includes the set of three Captain Cook at Kealakekua Bay Island of Hawaii. In addition to a mounted print of Iolani Palace Before the Turn of the Century - This drawing was first published in 1889 when Iolani Palace was first experiencing its last years as the home of royalty (Hale Alii). The phrase E Malama Hawaii translates to preserve the true Hawaii.
This is a great and very rare collection. The tape on the back of the fabric is fading. There is some slight rust on the Iolani Palace item, the only one that has been hung. The rest have all been sealed in plastic. The original owner picked them up in the 1970s.
Iolani Palace Before the Turn of the Century - This drawing was first published in 1889 when Iolani Palace was first experiencing its last years as the home of royalty (Hale Alii. The drawing shows the high walls that once surrounded the palace grounds and gives a hint of the formal gardens that formerly graced the front yard. A sentry is shown on duty and a horse drawn street-car loaded with passengers races down King Street. The phrase E Malama Hawaii translates to preserve the true Hawaii.
These are all the same size, approximately 15 x 18.5.
