Item description
This is a vintage Nu-Icy Soda bottle embossed, "Nu Icy - Flavors You Can't Forget" at the top and near the skirt, "Minimum Contents Full Half Pint - Bottle Pat'd March 9, 1920". Nu Icy was a product developed by NuGrape in Atlanta, GA. Various bottlers, including ones in Richmond, VA and Charlotte, NC distributed Nu Icy in the 1920s and 1930s. This bottle dates to that time frame. Nu Icy advertisements boasted that the soda was "the Triumph of Beverage Perfection" and "the greatest masterpieces in flavor on the American market... flavors you can't forget... perfect refreshment for the price of 5 cent." My father, an avid bottle hunter, discovered this bottle in the ruins of an old homestead in Virginia over 40 years ago. The bottle is in good shape. There are a couple of chips at the base and one on the trunk. There is a scar seam at the rim and on the lower portion. (See photos). There is some sediment deposit from exposure but clarity is nice overall. The bottle measures 9.5" tall and 2.25" wide.
