Julio Romero de Torres (1874-1930) was a Spanish painter who is known for his depictions of women in traditional Andalusian dress. He was born in Cordoba, Spain, and spent most of his life there. Romero de Torres studied painting at the School of Fine Arts in Cordoba and later in Madrid. He was influenced by the works of the Spanish Old Masters, such as Velazquez and Goya, as well as by the French Impressionists.
