Vintage 1973 NASA Space Program Apollo Command/Service Module and Mariner 10 Mod Disco Quintessa Shirt XL Absolutely Amazing! This is an XL polyester space travel themed print disco shirt in dark green and gold made from the 1970's fabric blend Quintessa by Media featuring the NASA Apollo Command/Service Module and the Mariner 10 Space probe, both launched in 1973. Media was a well known clothing company during that time period that specialized in trendy clothing. This is a clean pre-owned shirt that shows very light wear, however, there are three tiny holes between the last and second to the last button from the hemline. These holes have been reinforced from the back side and are difficult to see. The shirt is a vintage size Extra Large, so please check your measurements against those listed below. The shirt features a slightly tapered fit and a 1970's "butterfly" style collar. The Command/Service Module (CSM) was one of two spacecraft, along with the Lunar Module, used for the United States Apollo program which landed astronauts on the Moon. It was built for NASA by North American Aviation. It was launched by itself on three suborbital and low Earth orbit Apollo test missions using the Saturn IB launch vehicle. It was also launched twelve times on the larger Saturn V launch vehicle, both by itself and with the Lunar Module. It made a total of nine manned flights to the Moon aboard the Saturn V. After the Apollo lunar program, the CSM saw manned service as a crew shuttle for the Skylab program, and the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project in which an American crew rendezvoused and docked with a Soviet Soyuz spacecraft in Earth orbit. The CSM consisted of two segments: the Command Module, a cabin that housed a crew of three and equipment needed for re-entry and splashdown; and a Service Module that provided propulsion, electrical power and storage for various consumables required during a mission. The Service Module was cast off and allowed to burn up in the atmosphere before the Command Module re-entered and brought the crew home. The Command/Service Module was retired on July 24, 1975. Mariner 10 was an American robotic space probe launched by NASA on November 3, 1973, to fly by the planets Mercury and Venus. Mariner 10 was launched approximately two years after Mariner 9 and was the last spacecraft in the Mariner program. Mariner 11 and 12 were allocated to the Voyager program and redesignated Voyager 1 and Voyager 2. The mission objectives were to measure Mercury's environment, atmosphere, surface, and body characteristics and to make similar investigations of Venus. Secondary objectives were to perform experiments in the interplanetary medium and to obtain experience with a dual-planet gravity assist mission.
