SELLER'S NOTES: We have acquired several dozen vintage and antique porcelain and glass electrical insulators. There are many styles and colors in this collection, all of which are in very good condition and show no signs of physical damage or repairs.
Most of these are being listed in "As Found" condition meaning that we are selling them without doing any deep cleaning on them. We do brush off the dust and wipe them off so they look their best for photographing to show them to you. We have decided to sell these in "as is" condition and let the buyer decide if they want to keep the nostalgic look of their insulator or choose to clean them.
If you look closely at the photos, you will notice many of them have shiny spots beneath a dull, black coating. That blackness is actually a build up of soot from train smoke that collected on insulators that were on poles along railroad tracks over the years. Cleaning train soot can be challenging at best, but for those who want to enjoy the beauty of the glass instead of the patina, the time spent polishing them up could be well spent!
