Item description
WARREN:
The Man, The Court, The Era
By John D. Weaver
New York: Little, Brown and Company, (1967).
First edition, first printing.
Warmly inscribed and SIGNED by Weaver to the front end-paper.
Weaver, an author, renowned journalist and political historian is a native of Washington, D.C. where he gained experience working for several government agencies during the early days of the New Deal.
Enhanced with a frontispiece portrait photograph of Chief Justice Warren on a striking black-and-white plate.
A revealing biography of the tough prosecuting district attorney who later became Governor of California, and then the Chief Justice who ruled an end to racial segregation in public schools.
Warren was known to be outspoken, moral, and revolutionary.
Fine in burgundy linen with gilt embossed titles and borders to the spine, burgundy-and-yellow headband and tail-band, matching yellow upper page edges; in a rubbed, very good dust jacket with a very short edge-tears, a scratch to the front panel and light wear to the upper spine edge; original $7.95 price still intact to the front inner flap.
A significant biography of an important political and legal figure.
Octavo; 406 pages;notes; table of cases; index.
