Docudrama of the James gang and the Younger brothers. A great updating of the folklore legends which makes you even more sympathetic to their cause. And a demonizing of the railroad land grab scheme that forced our heroes to take the law into their own hands. I must admit that even I didn't know the bank robbers true motives until I watched this.
Jesse (Colin Farrell) and Frank James (Gabriel Macht), along with cousins Cole (Scott Caan), Bob (Will McCormack) and Jim Younger (Edward Smith) return from the Civil War to find Ma (Kathy Bates) and the family farm threatened by the railroad. So they commence to robbin' banks to help out the poor folk who been done wrong.
Along the way Jesse courts pretty young filly Zee (Ali Larter). At one point, aboard a speeding train, I thought I was watching a Batman movie with some of Jesse James amazing stunts. Like his escape from shackles and running down the outside of the train blastin' everyone while dangling from a rope! I'm not normally a big fan of westerns, but this one is recommended.
