For your consideration, here is a Sears Red 6 Foot Tape Measure, no. 9 3916, with plastic body, made in the USA.  It has some light wear on it.  The printing is in nice shape.  It extends out and retracts fine.  There is no button for holding it.  It will hold on its own to about 3 feet out, further than that is starts to retract and creep back in some.
