For your consideration are 2 antique L. S & S bone dishes. These are the Orleans pattern. L. S & S is Lazarus Strauss and Sons. Lazarus (some used the name Lewis instead) formed the company in 1869. His sons later joined him and he added the Sons to the name. The family was an American importer with branch offices in London, Paris, Berlin and Yokohma Japan. In 1893 they claimed to be the sole distributors for firms such as Baccarat, Edward Webb, Minton and Wedgwood. In 1874 they managed to contract with Macy's to sell their wares in Macy's stores. They were the first to sell china at Macy's. Many of their items were made in Limoges France and were thus marked as Limoges.
These dishes have a white background with the scrolls of a blue green. They have a scalloped edge. There is some crazing as they are very old, however no chips or cracks. They measure 6 1/4" x 3 1/2". Great piece of history and they are beautiful.
