Re: Bach by Lara St. John Cd

"This is a perfectly wonderful crossover album of classical music. It mixes superb violin playing with subtle themes from world music (Celtic, African chants, exotic instruments and percussion). The music is beautiful and varied and reminds me of a less caffeinated, more sublime version of a Vanessa-Mae album. The Classical Music Fundamentalists (CMFs) abhor this album. To them I say: sorry, folks, but get over it. Your dogmatic tirades over what constitutes "true" classical music is tiresome. Stop thinking that you hold a sacred monopoly on defining good/bad classical music. Stop attacking the artist personally (i.e., supposedly she posed nude for publicity) or her fans ("ignorant" "simpletons" with no "sound musical taste"---actual quotes from 3 "compassionate conservative" reviewers) because you consider her music "sacrilegious" since St. John dared to ignore your elitist, self-righteous decrees on boundaries re: Saint Bach's classical music. Stop thinking that because you are a CMF that you are just sLiGhTlY SuPeRiOr to the rest of us. Music is just music---and it belongs to EVERYONE! (Yes, even classical music!) And I vehemently reserve my right of deciding on my own what classical music is and what music I consider good. According to Amazon's own statistics, 62% of people who viewed this album here ultimately ended up buying it---despite the posted negative reviews "The heathens!". Obviously, many people (true: maybe not "your kind" of people) out there like her music AND this album"
