Palladium, the metal sponge, is a silvery-white metal named after the asteroid Pallas, in turn named after the Greek goddess of wisdom, Pallas.

It doesn't tarnish in air. Mixing it with gold produces the white gold used in jewelry. Closely related to platinum, it's used in dentistry, watchmaking, surgical instruments, and electrical contacts and is a member of the Noble metals and Platinum Group Metals.

Palladium is reported to promote healthy tissue regeneration. It is believed to increase the electrical transmission across the synapses within the brain to improve memory, increase mental alertness and promote general tissue regeneration of the neurological tissues.
