The Lawmen
Bo Cottrell, Eddie Johnson, Steve Phelps

For years one of Colorado's favorite, local show groups, since their beginnings in 1967,
with the original group composed of Bo Cottrell, Noel Fruberger and John Grout.
Over the years, The Lawmen have enjoyed a loyal and devoted following.  The Lawmen initially
performed at Taylor’s Supper Club and have since done recordings, TV and film appearances, as well as touring nationally.  The Lawmen’s hit single called, Darn Good Country was so popular that the group was invited to the White House.  They currently perform exclusively for special events.
Founder and group leader Bo Cottrell, with his wife Lynne, are our Event Directors.  Since forming
The Lawmen, Bo has been involved in the entertainment industry as a professional musician, comedian, actor, writer, and producer, both locally and nationally, and continues to perform every chance he gets!  Bo also became 1/2 of the Taylor's Comedy Team when Buddy Green left to
perform in New York and London and Bo replaced him as straight man for Kenny Smith.  Bo
is also an entrepreneur, veteran, worked in law enforcement for 6 years at the beginning of his career, plus has been involved in politics for over 40 years and is an extremely well-known, well-liked figure in that arena.  Bo has leveraged his entertainment and business contacts to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for numerous charities.  Due to these efforts, Bo was honored by President George H. W. Bush and presented with the “Point of Light” Award at the White House. He was recognized by Congress and his biography was read into the Congressional Record by Congressman Tom Tancredo in March, 2001. Bo was named “Man of the Year” by the Sentinel Newspapers and has received countless other awards, recognitions and accolades.  Joining the group 33 years ago, Dr. Charles “Eddie” Johnson, DDS, has a thriving practice at his Littleton
Family Dental Clinic but is always available to entertain and strum a few tunes.  Eddie met Bo at
Taylor's when Eddie was performing with Gary Morris, yes THE Gary Morris, and Ron Todd in a group from Texas called Tomorrow's Time. Later Gary and Eddie became known as the Taylor's Cowboys.  Currently residing in Nashville, the “new guy”, Steve Phelps has been part of The Lawmen for 28 years and is still making music as a solo artist and songwriter.

Taylor’s Supper Club act The Lawmen, from their first LP dated 1969. They were all actual Jefferson County lawmen and clearly an entertaining act! From left to right in front, Sheriffs John Ray, Bo Cottrell & John Grout!
