A little bit of history! The Citicorp Traveler is a 36 foot speed boat made by the Cigarette Boat Works and was owned by Dr. Robert Magoon. In 1977 Dr Magoon intended to challenge the world record at the time for crossing the Atlantic Ocean under power. The trip was to start from Cabo de Sao Vicente, Portugal and end at Nantucket lightship off Massachusetts. That is a 3,345 mile journey. In the end Dr Magoon and his crew fell short of their goal as they ran out of fuel just short of the Azores. Dr Magoo’s navigator on the trip was Dr Jack Greenberg. The inscription on the back of the buckle reads “Many Thanks, Doc Magoon” I acquired this in a lot of various items and included in that lot was a receipt with the name Dr J. Greenberg. I believe this one of a kind belt buckle was a thank you from Dr Magoon to Dr Greenberg.
