Hummingbird (aka Colibri) is a tetraploid version of the Iceland poppy. They grow taller and wider than the natural species and have large, bright, and cheerful flowers in orange, pink, red, white, or peach, which are beautifully displayed above soft green foliage. The flowers are cup-shaped, lightly fragrant, and have a crinkled texture. They are supported by sturdy, straight stems that range from 18 to 24 inches in height. This variety of poppy is perfect for cut flowers. Pick when the bud is just starting to show color and sear the ends for immediate use in arrangements. Iceland poppies don't like heat (they are from Iceland after all).
