COVER--A cased pair with accessories, these double-barrel flintlock pistols are marked "D. Egg. London." in gold inlay on ribs and "D. Egg" on the lockplates. Bore diameter is .555", barrel length 8%g", and over-all length 137/8". A crest on the back of the grips is identified by the College of Arms, London, as the Royal coronet with the distinctive label omitted. Durs Egg (1750-1834) was Maker to the Prince Regent and most celebrated, with H. 1V. Mortimer and Samuel Nock, as a maker of fine pistols. The set is now owned by Monty Bonner of Inglewood, Calif.
