Pop Memories of the 60s [Time-Life Box Set] Review by Steve Leggett

Like all of the Time Life sets, this one is assembled with care and great sound, and includes a wonderful variety of 1960s classics like Patsy Cline's “Crazy” and “I Fall to Pieces,” Bobbie Gentry’s “Ode to Billie Joe,” Skeeter Davis' “The End of the World,” Jay & the Americans' “This Magic Moment,” the Kingston Trio's “Where Have All the Flowers Gone?,” Jackie DeShannon's “What the World Needs Now Is Love,” Tom Jones' “It’s Not Unusual,” Roger Miller's “King of the Road,” and Trini Lopez's “Lemon Tree,” to name just a handful of the artists and sides presented. There are no tracks by some of the biggest and most important acts of the decade, though, like the Beatles, Bob Dylan, and the Rolling Stones, due no doubt to licensing issues, but that doesn’t keep this anthology from being a wonderful tour across the radio dial of a singular decade.
