Self-heal is a perennial herb that belongs to the mint family. It is native to Europe,Asia, Africa, and North America, and is commonly found in temperate climates.This plant is known for its amazing ethnobotanical properties. It grows up toabout 20 inches tall. The leaves are gray-green, lance-shaped, and serrated,growing in pairs along the square stem. The flowers are violet, blue, or white,forming dense, oblong clusters at the top of the stems. They bloom from May to October, with seeds ripening from August to September. Self-heal attracts beesand butterflies and serves as a larval host for the Clouded Sulphur butterfly.
