THE COVER
The sliding-breech, double-barrel 16-ga. shotgun on this month's cover is unusual in that it is a four-shot repeater. After the barrels are fired, the Darne-type sliding breech is opened, ejecting the empty shells, (left in place in this photo) and raising two fresh ones from their recesses in the frame, to be chambered by the closing breech. Built by Charles Leve in 1928, it is in the Liege, Belgium, firearms museum. For more on this interesting gun see p. 27-28.
