The lamp comes tested and working as shown in the photos given. It has a 3 way feature. You can have the top main bulb on, the bottom night light on or both at the same time. The diameter of the large globe on top is 14". The lamp over all is 25.5" tall. The chimney is not original to the lamp. It fits but it is shorter than the original chimney.
