"VIEW OF JEROME" BY HUBERT A. LOWMAN. This photograph was made in early August, 1954. It was about four in the afternoon on a day when showers threatened but did not materialize. The vantage point is the road which leads to the old open pit mine. Light was normal and the exposure was % second at fa I on Ektachrome, no filter, 5-inch Ektar lens, 4x5 view camera on a tripod.

One of the show spots in the bottom of the Canyon is Bright Angel Creek, clear and cold, a musical stream which travels from high springs to lose its identity, alas! in the brown digging machine known as the Colorado River.
