It appears in 1997 the Macdonald Cup, named for Charles Blair Macdonald, renowned golf course architect, champion golfer, and co-founder of the USGA was played in St Louis MO at St Louis Country Club.
This 8 inch wide plate was likely given to participants or winners at the tournament. It weighs in at a hefty 150.5 grams (just under 5 Troy ounces). This is a collectible any golf enthusiast - particularly one who played in college or professionally - would love to have as only a few select schools are even extended the opportunity to play each year.
The etched design leaves a bit to be desired. It’s not easy to see - especially in photos - and might benefit from a good deep polishing.
