BURN 'EM UP BARNES 1934 12 CHAPTER SERIAL Plot: Marjorie Temple, owner of a bus line and an apparently worthless plot of land, is set upon by rich oil speculators who know her land is actually worth millions. When they try to put her out of business, young racing driver Burn 'em Up Barnes comes to her rescue and saves her life in a battle with some gangsters. He adopts Bobbie Riley (Frankie Darro), the kid brother of his buddy George Riley, who was killed in a race. He also enters into a partnership with Marjorie in a transportation business. Meanwhile, a scheming promoter, knowing that the land Marjorie has inherited lies on top of valuable oil deposits, tries every method he can to wreck her busi-ness and force her to sell up. Enter our hero, Barnes, coming to the rescue again, and again, and again... Like most of the early Mascot serials, this makes for a very interesting serial visu-ally because of the many outdoor scenes which depict the L.A. area as it was at the time. Chapter titles: 1.
