VIRGINIA / EASTERN WILD RYE. This cool-season bunchgrass is native to the eastern two-thirds of the U.S. Full sun, part sun or shade. Wild Rye will grow just about anywhere. Not picky about soils. Wild rye provides forage for livestock and large game animals. Birds and small mammals will forage on seeds and utilize the plant parts for nests and dens. It makes a good component of grass mixtures used in conservation and restoration projects. It actively grows during the spring and fall when soil temperatures are cooler. Good companions to this cool season grass are warm season grasses like Big Bluestem, Little Bluestem, Indian Grass, and Switch Grass. Virginia Wild Rye turns reddish / tan in the fall. 500+ seeds per order. Thank You!!
