The Drive hub retainer is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool washing machines. It connects the drive motor and agitator gear, transmitting rotational power from the motor to enable drum rotation during the wash cycle. 

Causes of a bad retainer can include wear and tear over time, cracked or damaged retaining clips or plastic components, or failure of the retaining mechanism that secures the hub in place. 

Symptoms of a bad retainer include: 

  • The washtub or drum not spinning during the wash cycle 
  • Grinding or screeching noises coming from the drive components
  • The agitator wobbling or becoming loose inside the washtub

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.
