This listing is for a MLS (Multi Layer Steel) head gasket for the Chrysler Slant 6 Engine. 3.65 Bore Size and .080 Thickness.
This was designed to fit the Aluminum Block Slant 6 but also works great with the Iron block verified over 14.5:1 compression in race and street applications.
These Multi Layer Steel Gaskets originally came from a group buy we did together at slantsix.org. These gaskets are sourced by Gaskets to Go. I have worked with John (from Gaskets to Go) on a few gasket projects over the past number of years. He is originally from the United States, but moved to Thailand and runs his gasket manufacturing facility there and ships everything from Thailand. I sent John an original ALUMINUM BLOCK gasket to use as a pattern for the new gasket and made sure it would fit the aluminum block slant 6. These are comparable to Cometic gaskets and manufacturing quality is top notch.
I have personally verified that it works great on the Iron block in my 62 Valiant race car. I am running nearly 14:1 compression and 6700 rpms and had no problems with the gasket and a number of other racers are running them as well. They say even higher compression ratios should be ok and the gasket should work very well under boost conditions without O ringing the block.
There are other racers on the slantsix.org site that have used the gasket on the aluminum block and verified that it works properly there too.
I also know of some that have re-used their gaskets. While this is not recommended, it has been done and has worked successfully. They say surface finish is the key to getting a MLS gasket to seal so keep in mind that the surfaces will need to be almost perfectly smooth and flat. These gaskets are not cheap but work very well for extreme use or the aluminum block.
An assembly note: On certain year heads one of the rivets that hold the gasket together may interfere. The rivet simply needs to be removed prior to assembly.
