Xolaam Oral Suspension is an antacid medicine reserved for adults and adolescents over 15 years. It is recommended for pain, heartburn and burns of the stomach or esophagus.
Its active substances are the following (for 100 ml of drinkable suspension):
Aluminium (hydroxide gel)
Quantity corresponding to aluminium (hydroxide) 3.5 g
Magnesium (hydroxide gel)
Amount corresponding to magnesium (hydroxide) 4.0 g
Other components: concentrated hydrochloric acid, citric acid monohydrate, peppermint essential oil, mannitol, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, 70% sorbitol, sodium saccharin, purified water.
Notable excipient: sorbitol.
Dosage:
The dosage generally indicated is 1 tablespoon at the time of stomach pain, without exceeding 6 tablespoons per day.
The duration of the treatment is limited to 10 days. If however the symptoms were to persist beyond, or to worsen, take the opinion of your doctor, without increasing neither the dose nor the duration of the treatment.
Contraindications:
If you have been informed of an intolerance to certain sugars by your doctor, contact him/her before taking the medication.
Xolaam Oral Suspension should not be used if you are allergic to any of the active ingredients or components of its formula, or if you have severe kidney failure.
Prolonged use of this treatment should be avoided in patients with renal insufficiency.
It can be responsible or aggravate constipation in subjects at risk such as the elderly, or patients with renal insufficiency.
It is necessary to consult your doctor before using Xolaam Oral Suspension if your disorders are associated with weight loss, if you have persistent abdominal discomfort or difficulty swallowing, or if you are suffering from digestive disorders for the first time or if these disorders have recently changed.
Medical advice is also recommended in case of prolonged use, or if there is a risk of phosphorus deficiency.
It is important to inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other medication you have recently taken, are taking, or may be taking in the future.
Indeed, some drugs can be influenced by magnesium hydroxide, or influence its effectiveness. It is therefore necessary to tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are already using salicylates.
Xolaam Oral Suspension interacts with other oral medications, so you should not take Xolaam and another medication at the same time. It is necessary to respect a delay of at least 2 hours between their taking.
It also contains antacids (magnesium hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide) as do other medications. Therefore, they should not be combined, so as not to exceed the maximum recommended doses.
Xolaam Oral Suspension should only be used during pregnancy on the advice of your doctor.
It is however possible to take it during breast-feeding.
