Titleist Pro Titanium 975j 9.5* Driver - 2001
The Titleist 975J driver is a redesign of the 975D driver previously released by Titleist. The head of the 975J is larger at 312cc for increased confidence. The face is hotter than the original, producing faster ball speeds for increased distance. The Center of Gravity is placed deeper for more dynamic loft at impact, leading to higher launches and increased carry distance. Like the previous version of this driver, the head is traditionally pear-shaped and the bore-through hosel promotes greater stability at impact.
A new 312cc Prototype Driver... the 975J has been seen in many Tour bags early in '01. Very similar look to its wildly popular predecessor the 975D. Just slightly larger and with a different look to the face... scoring lines are placed in an "insert" look ala the Callaway GBB.
Review: "I got this as a throw-in at a used sporting goods store when I was really looking for a 3-wood to hit off the tee since I couldn't hit a driver very well at the time. I quickly ditched the 3-wood because the 975J is so easy to hit. It came with a Pro Force 65 shaft and just fits the way I swing. The sound of a solid hit is more of a crack than a metallic ping, and it feels cushy. It's easy to get the ball in the air, but it's easy to curve the ball, too, so you need to be a straight hitter to use this club. I keep thinking I need to update my driver, but I always come back to this one, my first metal driver after giving up my wooden 2-wood as a tee club. Everybody I let hit this club really likes it. You will, too. It was the cat's meow in its day, and it still does the job for me."

Titleist Know Right 15* Hybrid RH Stiff Flex - 1996
HISTORY
The original 1984 Metal Woods were traditional shaped clubs, with silver and gray club heads. They came in just two lofts: 9 degrees and 12 degrees, both clubs were 43 inches long and had a 54 degree lie angle. This driver was basic, but it would be the beginning of something beautiful for the Titleist company.
By the late 1990s, Titleist had tried their hand with several drivers. They manufactured the DCI Starship Driver, the KnowRight Metal Driver and the DTR Midsize Metal Driver. Each of these clubs offered a feature or two to help players with specific swings. The Starship had an extra large head for players with inconsistent swings. KnowRight attempted to compensate for swings that tend to pull to the right. And the DTR Midsize was intended to get the ball higher in the air.
The 975 line were the first drivers that Titleist created with features modern golfers would recognize. Introduced in 1998 and built through the early 2000s, the bigger club heads, thinner faces, and more forward centers of gravity on these clubs changed the game for players who had struggled with the much smaller, harder to play clubs of the 1980s and 1990s. These same features continued to be refined with the 983 and 905 series.
