Meteoxane is an over-the-counter medication consisting of two active ingredients. Firstly, simeticone (125 mg) creates a protective film and has an anti-flatulent effect, i.e. it reduces the formation of intestinal gas. Secondly, phloroglucinol (80 mg) has an antispasmodic action in order to reduce digestive spasms, or involuntary contractions.
POSOLOGY OF METEOXANE :
2 capsules 3 times a day before meals or at the time of pain. If the diarrhea does not improve within 48 hours, a visit to your doctor will be necessary.
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE OF METEOXANE :
Do not take this medicine for bloating if you know you are allergic to any of its constituents.
Meteoxane should not be given at the same time as analgesics such as morphine which are spasmogenic.
As a precaution Meteoxane should not be taken while breastfeeding and during the first 3 months of pregnancy. During the next 2 trimesters, medical advice will be necessary.
