The Vigilantes Group (compilers), FIFES AND DRUMS: A COLLECTION OF POEMS OF AMERICA AT WAR,  New York: George H. Doran, 1917.

First ed. OE brown cloth (re-backed) / paper hardcover with white titling on spine and original paper label on front board, 12mo (7x4.5”), Good/ n.a. / ex lib w/heavy library sophistication including a card in the rear pocket, corners bumped and rubbed, head and tail of spine lightly rubbed also, very light staining on boards, Houston Lyceum library blind stamp to title page et.al. , otherwise in great condition.

One of those rare cases in which an ex-lib is a good thing.  This tome was last checked out Dec. 15th,1929 at the then new Ideson Library (1926); the Houston Lyceum was then sold.  This book with the Lyceum card still in it, would have been there for the transition.  The then new Ideson building  is to this days aid to be haunted by the original night watchman named Jacob Cranmer.  Perhaps Mr. Cranmer read this book.

An odd twist to a very special WWI politically motivated(research the Vigilantes Group) book of poetry and yet another segment of Captured Tyme!
