A friend of mine who is downsizing bought this from a London dealer on a trip there years ago. He was told it is an antique Ethiopian coptic Christian scripture however that would not seem to be correct and opinion is that it is something old but more Eastern, possibly from India.
This looks to me to be something that was handed out possibly for donations rolled up with a string around and likely some kind of prayer or blessing. Bring the rain, bring a child, make my sick wife well, that kind of thing. Almost surely on rag content paper so it is not aging badly although aging some, the only part you will notice and it is not bad is where two strips of some kind of glue were used originally to mount it and they are turning a little dark. Hand written with brush in India Ink and if kept cool, dry and not in bright light will last centuries.
The frame about 9 1/2" x 19" with standard glass and inlay mat; document approximately 4 1/4" x 14".
(On the back there were at the bottom at each corner apparently a little plastic nub thing glued on to keep the frame parallel to the wall. One of them has fallen off.)
