Vintage original 5.5 x 8 in. cream colored envelope and accompanying 5 x 8 in. "The Winner Is" card from the 21ST EMMY AWARDS CEREMONY. Held on Monday, June 8, 1969 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, this envelope and card were used during a dress rehearsal for the announcement of the "Outstanding Continued Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Comedy Series" award. This particular card randomly announced nominee Diahann Carroll as the "winner" for her portrayal in Julia (the award ultimately went to Hope Lange for The Ghost and Mrs. Muir). The envelope has the word REHERSAL handwritten (and misspelled) on the bottom left and "A6 - SPECIAL CLASS-INDIV." in pencil on the bottom right. The envelope has a small red ribbon and accompanying sticker affixed to the back flap to keep it sealed and is very fine- condition. The announcement card is in very good condition with a 3.5 in. horizontal crease slightly through the top of the word "HOLLYWOOD" and a vertical crease next to the right edge.
