RARE: 1911 ENGLISH FURNITURE OF THE EIGHTEENTH CENTURY H. Cescinsky 3 volumes

English Furniture Of The Eighteenth Century
(in 3 volumes)

By Herbert Cescinsky

London, The Waverly Book Company; undated (but 1911)

These three substantial volumes, printed on heavy, coated paper, address every detail of English furniture design of the 18th century, as well as providing in-depth histories of the various craftsmen, designers, and workshops that contributed to the tradition. The work is exhaustively researched, engagingly written, and profusely illustrated with more than 1100 photos and drawings. A rare and sought after furniture reference work!

Half leather over mottled green cloth boards. 5 raised bands on the spine and gilt-stamped titles. Gray endpapers. Profusely illustrated with photos and drawings. 12.5" x 10". ~1150 pages. No date of publication but from my research appears to be the 1911 edition (first edition) as these were published without dates of publication and without the color frontispiece that appeared in the 1922 re-issue. Heavy - the three volumes together are over 18 lbs.
