This is a strikingly beautiful vintage 1950's day dress by Arkay.
Size is marked vintage 7, but VERY TINY by modern standards.
32" bust, 23" waist.
Such gorgeous fabric. I believe it is cotton.
Wonderful print - seems to be French Provencial inspired. Très chic!!
Dark red background, with forest green, dark blue, black and gold.
The print is precisely placed to create a striking effect.
Boat neck.
Double bust darts each side.
Extended shoulders / cap sleeve effect
Fitted waist.
Very full pleated skirt.
Metal back zip / hook and eye.
The bodice is lined.
The skirt is unlined.
Pinked seams. Waist has grosgrain ribbon seam stay.
No belt loops - it appears it never had a belt.
