Why do we celebrate Valentine's Day, and what the heck is a Vinegar Valentine? What does it mean to send white roses instead of red? Is my old, written-on Valentine worth anything? Get the answers to these questions and more during our interactive workshop featuring Nancy Rosin, president of the National Valentine Collectors Association.
Nancy is also the vice-president of The Ephemera Society of America. She has authored five books, produced a documentary on Valentines, and has guest-starred on A&E’s “Incurable Collector” and the "Martha Stewart Living" TV show. She has thousands of Valentines that she’s been accumulating for almost 40 years, and she writes extensively on the subject all during the year. And yes, Nancy is a new Bonanzler.
With Nancy's expert advice and helpful tips, you're sure to have a Valentine's Day that is 2 Sweet 2B 4-Gotten. I hope you can join for this lighthearted workshop!

A Hallmark Holiday
Sounds great, I will be there! marked my calendar!
Looking forward to this event. Hopefully it will lead to many more topics in the future.
Super Cute Idea! Love It!
Well, it is NOT a Hallmark holiday! It is a Christian holiday, Catholic to be more exact. Here’s a secret I am sure is not known by many here: How did the “Valentine” get it’s start?
Valentine was a holy priest in Rome, who, with St. Marius, was persecuted and martyred under Claudius II for marrying couples illegally, as Claudius did not want his soldiers married. While awaiting his execution, Valentinus restored the sight of his jailer’s blind daughter, and on the eve of his death, he penned a farewell note to the jailer’s daughter, signing it, “From your Valentine.” St. Valentine was martyred in 269 at Rome and was buried on the Flaminian Way. He is the Patron Saint of affianced couples, bee keepers, engaged couples, epilepsy, fainting, greetings, happy marriages, love, lovers, plague, travelers, young people. He is represented in pictures with birds and roses.
And that is the ONLY meaning behind St Valentine’s Day.
Great idea.
Always ready to learn about more collectibles.
Wow, it’s almost Valentines day!
I will try to be at the forum.
It does sound interesting, informative and exciting!
I think it is great & would be interesting to have insight to another area of collections…the paper goods, what to collect, how to care for, etc. Look forward to the event, and have the calendar marked for that day too. Thanks so much!
Great offering. Do we get to send you virtual kisses to make you blush during the presentation?
Great. Now I need to get a real calendar!

Sounds like a great event to bad I can’t make it being I have to work.
Good morning Bonanzles! Sarah and I have arrived and can’t wait to see what y’all do in here.
We’re newbies (in Bonanzle . . . straight out of eBay) and bring with us art and collectibles . . . even some window cranks one day. It is so nice to be able to breathe.
Want to get to know each of you, one by one, though ‘cause we’re old.
Sounds like an interesting workshop!
I’ve just listed a beautiful 1940s sterling silver hinged heart-shaped locket…..just in time for Valentine’s Day!
?? Wasn’t this discussion yesterday? I think I missed it. Ahh..too bad. Would be good to learn about this wonderful holiday. Oh Well. Next time.
